model: 1975 750 S3 country: United Kingdom frame number: VK215706 name: Gyles Fairclough email: gyles_fairclough@hotmail.com notes: "Registered: Sept 29th 1975. Only one former keeper and 6600 miles from new. Original bill of sale (£1700), bought in Edinburgh and stored for 12 years before I got it. I bought it in Aug 2001. To get it legal and tidy I have done the following: (1) New tyres (Metzelers) me33 & me99). (2) Front & Rear Master Cylinder overhauls. (3) New Fork Stanchions (4) Swinging arm & frame sections painting. (5) Points adjusting, timing setting, carbs balancing, in-line fuel filters, oil filter and all fluids changing. (6) Lots of TLC and hours of cleaning. The bike is totally standard and original aside from stainless fastners and the balance pipe is painted black instead of chrome. The switchgear is even original as is the Aprilia headlight. Planned changes include timing gears, possibly a sump extension and Lafranconi competition pipes (which may be a waste as it still has the 30mm carbs). On the road the Guzzi rides really well. It is obviously slow by modern standards but what it lacks in speed it makes up in class, looks and sound. I think the 'intrusive induction noise' which many road testers complained about in the 70's is a really nice sound." |
